COACHES

It starts with coaching, including basketball on the court but certainly not limited to just that.

Paul Krumins is a foundation in Fairfield County’s youth basketball structure and an integral member of ABC, following Harvey over from Overtime Athletics which Paul co-founded, in addition to being the Director of Fairfield PAL basketball and a founding Board member of the Fairfield County Basketball League. As a long-time area youth coach and counselor he has shepherded hard-working young student-athletes from the nascent period through high school and on into college. A graduate of Georgetown University in addition to also attending Oxford, he believes in values and the benefits of development and teaches clinics throughout the state with his focus on working tirelessly on behalf of student-athletes throughout the Fairfield/Bridgeport area emphasizing the importance of academics at every step. Professionally, Paul is a Managing Partner of Higgins Group Real Estate.

Harvey Rubin began what has become the Academic Basketball Club twelve years ago and has developed a program measuring success with the growth and development of the players each year. The path began with the re-establishment of a travel program in the City of Stamford and progressed into AAU and has led to relationships with several hundred college coaches as it was realized, the ultimate goal of the student-athlete playing AAU basketball is to earn a college uniform and continue playing as they continue their education. While maintaining a competitive level on the court, the emphasis on working with players excelling in the classroom has been the hallmark of the Academic Basketball Club (information can be found through the link at the top of this page) and five classes of student-athletes have completed the program's 17u Teams with almost every player (including every player in the last three years) earning an offer of a college uniform, in most cases multiple offers. A graduate of Pace University where he set an NCAA record for the most games serving as the official scorer of a basketball game while an undergraduate, Harvey was actively involved with recruiting immediately upon graduation and has applied this experience to the benefit of ABC players and now the clients of D3Recruiting to Earn A College Uniform. Professionally, Harvey is an entrepreneurial consultant serving the sports and television industries and is involved with a number of start-up projects. Harvey can be contacted at harvey@academicbasketball.com and 203.329.0707.

An AAU program borne of inspiration and desire to fill a need by and for the caring…

Rule #1 – Remember To Have Fun

Rule #2 – Acquiris Quodcumque Rapis

Proper Preparation not only Prevents Poor Performance, it puts us in a position to succeed. That is our goal.

Our Teams are in a focused training program to become professionals, albeit in something other than basketball. Their route will take them through one of the many fine colleges or universities renowned for their high standards of academic excellence and the proven success of their basketball program.

Our basketball players are focused on the end-goal of becoming professionals, at which time basketball will still be played for passion after all their work is done for the day. Like everything they do, they take it seriously and perform with both full effort and enthusiasm. That approach has gotten them to where they are today and is what will drive and motivate them on their own personal roads towards success.
